Charles Rogers, the former Lions receiver who was one of the biggest busts in the history of the NFL draft, is in trouble with the law again.
Rogers, who had a bench warrant issued for his arrest last week after he failed to show up to a court hearing, is now in jail and will be sent to a treatment facility, ABC 12 in Saginaw, Michigan, reports.
Rogers failed a drug test before a previous court hearing, and he has a long history of failing drug tests, going all the way back to the 2003 Scouting Combine, when he submitted a diluted urine sample. Ex-Lions President Matt Millen looked past that red flag and took Rogers with the second overall pick in the draft, but more failed drug tests led to a suspension during Rogers’ career with the Lions, and Rogers never amounted to anything in the NFL.
The charges Rogers currently faces include making a malicious phone call (a death threat to his own mother) and conspiring with his uncle to commit that crime, plus possessing marijuana, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license.
