The Chiefs have continued to list safety Eric Berry as a starter, even though he’s not even in camp or under contract.
But Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey told reporters today he wasn’t concerned about Berry not showing up on time.
“The agent has said . . . at some juncture during this course he will show up here,” Dorsey said, via Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. “I haven’t talked to Eric one on one about when he’s going to show up. Knowing what a prideful professional he is, I think he will show up at the appropriate time.”
Of course Berry will show up, because not signing his franchise tender before the opener would cost him $635,000 a week.
But since he hasn’t signed his deal, he’s under no obligation to show up for training camp.
And the Chiefs don’t seem inclined to do anything about it.
