A.J. Brown may indeed have been “the best to ever play” in Philadelphia. That wasn’t enough to get the Eagles to take his number out of circulation for a year.
Or even for a month.
Via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP, Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell will change his number from 30 to 11, now that Brown is gone.
Campbell, a first-round pick in 2025, wore No. 11 at Alabama.
The adjustment does not yet appear on the team’s official online roster. There, Campbell remains No. 30.
Brown wore No. 11 in Tennessee and in Philadelphia. He prefers the number he now has in New England: No. 1.
Regardless, there apparently will be a No. 11 when the Eagles play this season, even though the best player to ever wear that number for the Eagles (with apologies to Carson Wentz, Norm Van Brocklin, Ty Detmer, and Eggs Manske) is no longer there.
