The Kansas City Chiefs announced they have have placed reserve tight end Jake O’Connell on injured reserve and promoted guard Rich Ranglin from the practice squad to their active roster.

O’Connell suffered a high ankle sprain in Monday night’s overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and likely would not have been available for at least a couple of weeks.

With right guard Jon Asamoah out after undergoing thumb surgery and center Ryan Lilja questionable with a knee injury, Ranglin provides some additional depth along the offensive line.

O’Connell recorded just three catches for 18 yards and a special teams tackle in eight games for the Chiefs this season.
