Chris Cooley says he’s likely headed for injured reserve

Redskins fans don’t have a lot to look forward to this season, but they were hoping to see tight end Chris Cooley back on the field.

Speaking on Eliot in the Morning on DC 101 in Washington, Cooley said that probably isn’t going to happen. The Pro Bowler said he expects to go on injured reserve, according to Dan Steinberg of

DC Sports Bog.

It was reported Monday that Cooley was expected to be in a walking boot for another ten days because of his surgically repaired ankle. It sounds like he’d be able to return for 2-3 games at most, and the team may not think it’s worth the risk considering their record.

Cooley is expected to meet with Redskins coach Jim Zorn Tuesday and could settle on a plan. Fred Davis has caught 16 passes for 178 yards in the last four yards in place of Cooley.
