Colt McCoy says he’s the best quarterback in the draft

Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy is not going to be the first quarterback drafted next week. But he’s not willing to concede that his college rival Sam Bradford -- or any other quarterback -- is better than him.

“I do feel I’m the best quarterback in the draft,’' McCoy said, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Every quarterback needs to have that mentality, that competitive edge. I’m driven and nobody’s going to work harder than me. I don’t know where I’ll get drafted, but I do know that whoever gets me is going to get the best.’'

McCoy visited the Browns this week and sounds particularly interested in playing for Eric Mangini and Mike Holmgren in Cleveland.

“It’d be awesome,’' McCoy said. “The visit went really well. I spent a couple of hours with coach Mangini in Austin and met with him again [at the Browns’ facilities]. I really enjoyed coach Holmgren too. What an awesome man and leader. We share a lot of the same qualities.’'

McCoy could make sense for the Browns in the second round, with the 38th overall pick.
