As the trade deadline approaches, the names circulating as possible candidates to change teams are, in most cases, not going anywhere.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, receiver Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t available.
It’s a bit of a surprise, given that the 2013 first-round pick has caught only two passes in seven games. But he remains the team’s primary kickoff returner, and the Vikings apparently are willing to continue to pay him a base salary of $1.061 million this year.
Last year, former Cleveland practice-squadder Charles Johnson jumped past Patterson on the depth chart. This year, rookie fifth-rounder Stefon Diggs has done the same thing.
Patterson, who has appeared in all 39 games of his career, has 80 catches for 863 yards and five touchdowns. He also has rushed for 284 yards and four scores.
