While the Dallas Cowboys currently seem to be committed to keeping Jason Garrett as their head coach, his older brother appears to be seeking other opportunities.
According to Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com, Cowboys tight end coach John Garrett has applied for the head coaching job at the University of Delaware.
Per Fowler, Jason knows his brother is pursuing the job and has encouraged him to do so.
The Cowboys have parted with three members of the coaching staff in recent weeks. Dallas fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, running backs coach Skip Peete and strength and conditioning coach Walt Williams have all been let go.
Garrett had been considered for the Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator job in 2011. He previously served as assistant head coach at the University of Virginia in 2007 under Al Groh in his last collegiate coaching job. Garrett has served as the Cowboys tight ends coach since 2007.
Delaware, a Football Championship Subdivision school (formerly Division I-AA), fired head coach K.C. Keeler after a 5-6 record with the Blue Hens last season.
