The Chiefs enter the playoffs on a 10-game winning streak that’s been fueled by contributions from players up and down the roster.
That was true in Week 17 when they beat the Raiders 23-17. Eight different receivers caught passes, six different defenders recorded sacks and linebacker D.J. Alexander came up with a big play on special teams.
With the Chiefs up 14-10 in the third quarter, Alexander blocked a Marquette King punt out of the end zone for a safety. The Chiefs would score a touchdown after starting the ensuing drive near midfield and held on as the Raiders tried to rally in the fourth quarter to end the regular season with their long winning streak intact.
Alexander was a fifth-round pick in the 2015 draft and saw action in all 16 games this season. He recorded 13 tackles and recorded the team’s only special teams points of the season on the blocked punt, which was the team’s first since the 2012 season.
