Vernon Gholston’s time in New York may finally be up, but the Jets aren’t about to give up on a more-recent draft pick that didn’t contribute much of anything in 2010.
ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini writes Monday that the team plans to move second round pick (and King Ugly contender) Vladimir Ducasse to right tackle next year. Ducasse lost out on the starting left guard job in training camp, and watched most of the season.
With Ducasse headed to right tackle, the future of Damien Woody is up in the air. Woody is coming off a strong season, but he missed the final three games of the regular season with a knee injury, and then hurt his Achilles in the playoffs.
It would be a major risk to drop Woody. Cimini says, however, the team believes in Ducasse and Woody’s high salary ($4.26 million cap figure) and age (33) could result in him getting cut.
