Darren Sproles: I felt Saints did me wrong with handling of trade
Eagles running back Darren Sproles was asked Thursday if he felt that the Saints have missed him while breaking from the gate with three losses in their first four games.
Sproles said he didn’t know, but that he was happy to be on a 3-1 team in Philadelphia. And while he says he hasn’t been paying attention to what the Saints have been doing this season, there’s probably the occasional glance to the scoreboard given his hard feelings about how the Saints handled the end of his time with the team.
“I felt disrespected there. Listen I understand this is business and all of that, but they put it up on Twitter. That’s how I found out. There was a screen shot and a friend of mine texted it to me. I felt they did me wrong,” Sproles said, via NJ.com. “First Sean [Payton] told me they were going to cut me. Then I find out on Twitter they’re trading me. That’s just not right. So I really haven’t been in contact with anyone there since I left. I really haven’t paid attention to what they’re doing. I’m more focused on what’s happening here.”
The Eagles and Saints won’t meet in the regular season this year, so Sproles won’t get a chance to take out any of his frustrations directly. If he continues to make big plays for the Eagles while the Saints sputter, the pain will probably be just as acute in New Orleans.
