When newly signed Browns defensive tackle Desmond Bryant provided us with a mug shot for the ages last month, we knew that he had been arrested on charges of criminal mischief.
There weren’t many other details available, but more has come to light thanks to a lawsuit filed against Bryant in Miami. Isaac Bakar alleges that he and his family were “terrified” when Bryant tried to break down the door to their house at 5:30 a.m. According to Bakar, he and his family held the door closed while Bryant’s efforts to get inside caused him to rip off the door handle to what he thought was his own home. Bryant’s own home is nowhere near where Bakar lives, though, and the two men do not know each other.
“They were scared,” said the family’s attorney, Robert Fiore, via the Miami Herald. “My client was holding on for dear life.”
After landing a big new contract with the Browns, Bryant said he wanted to move on from the arrest and the much-discussed mug shot. The lawsuit’s going to make it a little harder for him to do that.
