The two players involved in the undercard fight to the Pacman Jones-Amari Cooper battle were fined for their actions.

The NFL confirmed today that it fined Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap and Raiders offensive tackle Austin Howard $8,681 apiece for unnecessary roughness. Dunlap and Howard went at it in the tussle that primarily focused on Jones and Cooper.

The league also confirmed that Jones was fined $35,000 for slamming Cooper’s head into his helmet. Cooper was not fined for punching Pacman.

Many league observers were surprised that Jones was only fined, not suspended, for a cheap shot that was well outside the bounds of fair play. Given the number of players involved in the melee and the league’s emphasis on avoiding fights on the field, there easily could have been more than two other players fined as well. Overall, the players involved in this fight got off easy.
