The Cardinals have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free agent offensive lineman Evan Mathis.
The team reportedly offered Mathis a two-year deal during his visit, but ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported that Mathis settled on a one-year deal worth $6,000,069 in a nod to his jersey number. And certainly only his jersey number.
Mathis, 34, is a two-time Pro Bowler. He made 12 starts at left guard in the 2015 regular season and started all three postseason games for the Super Bowl champion Broncos, with whom he signed after being cut by the Eagles.
The Cardinals traded right guard Jonathan Cooper to the Patriots Tuesday. Mike Iupati was the usual starter at left guard for the Cardinals last season.
