The trade deadline has come and gone, but the Panthers and Falcons have effectively swapped out safeties the other didn’t want.

The Falcons announced they signed former Panthers third-rounder Charles Godfrey.

Godfrey, coming off a torn Achilles last year, was made expendable when the Panthers signed former Falcons cast-off Thomas DeCoud, along with former Saints cast-off Roman Harper.

The two teams still face each other twice this year, so Godfrey will at least be good for some intel. He was forced into a move to nickel corner (after taking a big paycut), so he should have a good working knowledge of the defense.
