On the same weekend that the Redskins benched Donovan McNabb and apologized for selling his jersey at a discount, the team used his name to sell 2011 Redskins tickets in a letter sent out to prospective buyers.

Dan Steinberg of DC Sports Bog has a nifty picture of the letter, which tells fans how lucky they are to finally be off the team’s waiting list.

(As Doug Farrar of Yahoo! points out, they also used Clinton Portis’ image for a ticket. Portis, like McNabb, is almost certainly a goner this offseason.)

“The Redskins want YOU to join head coach Mike Shanahan and Quarterback Donovan McNabb for the 2011 season. Nothing beats the pageantry of Redskins football live with over 90,000 fans at FexEx Field!” the letter reads.

The Redskins plan to send a follow up letter to those who don’t respond:

“If McNabb doesn’t get you excited, can we interest you in a little Sexy Rexy? Mr. Grossman leads the NFL with a four touchdown-per-start average!”
