Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jonathan Dekker was acquitted of an obstruction of justice charge today by a Virginia judge, according to the Associated Press. He was potentially facing a $2,500 fine and up to a year in jail. Dekker was arrested one week before the Super Bowl when he ran from police, but not fast enough to evade them. He then gave the arresting officers a false name. Dekker has said he didn’t want to be a distraction to the team, which is why he ran from police officers. Dekker played collegiate football at Princeton. [Editor’s note: Apparently, they relax the admission standards for football players in the Ivy League, too.]
