After holding him out of the preseason opener, the Rams wanted to get running back Todd Gurley some quick work in front of their new home fans in Los Angeles in Saturday night’s preseason game vs. the Chiefs.
The plan was executed well.
Gurley got four carries on the Rams’ opening drive, looked quick and healthy, and capped that drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.
He was then taken out of the game, which has become a shootout. It was 14-14 with more than 10 minutes left in the second quarter after Rams quarterback Case Keenum threw a touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Pharoh Cooper and the Chiefs answered right back with an Alex Smith touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin.
