With their WR corps ailing, the Jaguars are getting some needed reinforcement at the position.
The club added second-year receiver Ace Sanders to the 53-player roster on Saturday, the team’s website said.
The 22-year-old Sanders missed the Jaguars’ first four games serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. Sanders (5-7, 178) hauled in 51 passes for 478 yards and a touchdown in 2013 for Jacksonville.
The Jaguars (0-4) will be without wide receivers Marqise Lee and Cecil Shorts III for Sunday’s game vs. Pittsburgh. Both have been ruled out with hamstring injuries.
In a corresponding roster move, the Jaguars waived tight end Mickey Shuler with a non-football illness designation.
