A week ago, there were reports that Cowboys tight end Jason Witen was “not a lock” to play, which seemed reasonable since teammates said he “couldn’t even walk,” the Monday before the game because of two sprained ankles and a sprained left knee.
Of course, they were wrong, because it’s Witten.
The veteran tight end not only played in his 190th straight game, he caught six passes for 65 yards.
“Early in the week it was a little tough trying to get some of that swelling out, but by the end of the week it felt really good,” Witten said, via Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com. “The trainers did a good job helping me out, so yeah, I think I’m past all that and feel good.”
He’s been a full participant in each of the two practices this week, so any concern about his availability is over. At least until the next injury, which will seem dire, until he comes back and plays anyway.
