Jeffery Simmons named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 12

Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons caught his first NFL touchdown pass last Sunday and he has something else to celebrate on Friday.

The NFL Players Association announced that Simmons has been named their Community MVP for Week 12. Simmons is being recognized for organizing a pre-Thanksgiving turkey giveaway this week.

Simmons gifted more than 500 turkeys to Nashville families ahead of the holiday via a drive-thru event at Nissan Stadium and by working with local organizations.

“The Bible says in Luke 12:48 that ‘To whom much is given, much will be required.’ Growing up in Noxubee County, Mississippi, I watched my mother make countless sacrifices for me and my four siblings, especially during the holidays,” Simmons said in a statement. “Knowing that God has put me in a position to be a blessing to others means the world to me, and I realize there is still so much work for me to do in the community. I want to sincerely thank everyone for helping with the Give Em A Reason Foundation Turkey Distribution.”

The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Simmons’ foundation or the charity of his choice. He will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award at the end of the season.
