An already underpowered Jets passing game took another blow when wide receiver Jeremy Kerley went to the locker room with an injury in the second quarter, but their running game is keeping the score close at the Meadowlands.

Chris Ivory busted out a 52-yard gain and has 81 rushing yards to help the Jets climb within one of his former team. The Saints lead 7-6 with 10 minutes to play in the half after Nick Folk’s second field goal of the game.

There’s been no official announcement on Kerley’s injury, but it was a nasty looking left arm injury that knocked the receiver out. He was blocking on a running play and his arm got rolled up on while planted as he fell to the turf. If the injury was as bad as it appeared, Kerley may not be back anytime soon.

For a Jets team already without wide receiver Santonio Holmes and tight end Jeff Cumberland, passing the ball isn’t going to be easy. That should mean plenty of work for Ivory, Bilal Powell and the defense on Sunday.

UPDATE 2:17 p.m. ET: The Jets have announced Kerley will not return.
