The Jets have released a cornerback whom they added after rosters were reduced to 53 players.
The club has placed second-year pro Leon McFadden on waivers, according to the NFL’s Thursday transactions.
A third-round pick of the Browns in 2013, the 23-year-old McFadden played in every regular season game for Cleveland as a rookie, making 19 tackles. The Browns released him on August 30, and the Jets were awarded him on waivers the next day. McFadden was inactive for the Jets’ Week One win vs. Oakland.
With McFadden removed from the roster, the Jets have five cornerbacks: Dee Milliner, Darrin Walls, Kyle Wilson, Phillip Adams and safety/corner Antonio Allen. Milliner, who missed the regular season opener with an ankle injury, was a limited participant in practice on Thursday, according to the injury report. The Jets’ final injury report in advance of Sunday’s game at Green Bay will be released Friday.
