Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam no longer owns a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers announced Thursday that Haslam’s stake in the club has been sold. Haslam was a minority shareholder of the Steelers before becoming controlling owner of the Browns last year. Upon officially taking over the Browns, Haslam made plans to sell his Steelers stake, the team said.
The Steelers said the majority of Haslam’s shares were purchased by current owners. Part of his stake was sold to new shareholders, Scott and Russ Swank.
“We appreciate the continued confidence of our Ownership group involving this purchase of stock owned by Jimmy Haslam, and we welcome Scott and Russ Swank to our Ownership group,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said in a statement released by the club.
The selling of Haslam’s shares was approved by the NFL, the team said.
