Jonathon Cooper will not participate in Broncos minicamp

Broncos edge rusher Jonathon Cooper’s legal issues will keep him off the field for the team’s mandatory minicamp this week.

Per multiple reports, Cooper has been excused from the minicamp practices. Cooper was arrested earlier this month on domestic violence charges and he was arrested again last week for violating a protective order.

Cooper faces a felony charge of second-degree assault from the first arrest and four charges related to the alleged violation of the protective order.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that the team will follow the league’s lead on how they proceed with Cooper. He is subject to discipline by the league under the Personal Conduct Policy and could be placed on paid leave as part of that process.
