Packers quarterback Jordan Love aired it out throughout the afternoon, leading Green Bay to a 31-7 victory over Chicago.
Love completed 25-of-31 passes for 367 yards with two touchdowns — good for a 137.5 passer rating. He completed five passes for at least 40 yards. As noted by Kevin Fishbain of TheAthletic.com, Chicago hadn’t given up that many passes of at least 40 yards since at least 2000.
Christian Watson had two such receptions for touchdowns, catching a 42-yard strike to open the scoring in the first quarter. He then caught a 53-yard TD in the third quarter to make the score 20-7. Watson ended the game with six receptions for 143 yards.
Marshawn Lloyd had a pair of touchdown runs, one for 7 yards and another for 4 yards in the fourth quarter.
Matthew Golden also had a 50-yard catch and a 36-yard strike, finishing with six receptions for 123 yards.
Notably, the Packers fired a deep pass even when up 31-7 early in the fourth quarter — perhaps an in-game message from Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur to Chicago head coach Ben Johnson.
With Caleb Williams still sidelined by a hamstring injury, Tyson Bagent struggled against Green Bay’s defense, going 12-of-21 for 87 yards with two interceptions. He was replaced by Case Keenum early in the fourth quarter, who didn’t fare any better — tossing an interception to end his first possession.
Keenum finished 11-of-19 for 108 yards with a pick and a lost fumble.
The Bears had five giveaways while the Packers did not have any.
But the Packers may have a kicking problem, as rookie Trey Smack missed three on Sunday — an extra point, and two field goals. His missed extra point went wide left, a 43-yard field goal went wide left, and a 47-yard field goal went wide right.
Cairo Santos also missed a 43-yard field goal wide left midway through the third quarter.
Notably, Packers defensive lineman Javon Hargrave was carted off the field just after the two-minute warning after going down during a short pass.
Now at 3-2, the Packers will host the Cowboys next Sunday night.
The 3-2 Bears will be on the road to face the Falcons. They may get quarterback Caleb Williams back from a hamstring injury after he was able to practice on Friday.
