Julius Thomas glad Graham, Saints came to an agreement

We’ve paid a lot of attention to Saints tight end Jimmy Graham’s push for a new contract over the last few months and we haven’t been alone in the effort.

Several tight ends in the NFL have also been curious to see how Graham’s bid to be franchise tagged as a wide receiver would play out since it would have a ripple effect on contracts for others at the position. Graham didn’t win that fight, but he got a long-term deal that should pay him $21 million over the next two seasons. That’s more than he stood to make under the tight end tag and Broncos tight end Julius Thomas tweeted that he was happy for Graham.

“Throwing a shoutout to Jimmy Graham. Congrats! Glad both sides could come together and agree on a deal,” Thomas wrote.

Thomas’ teammate Terrance Knighton responded to the tweet, writing that he bets Thomas is happy with the way things worked out. Thomas is entering the final year of his contract with the Broncos and his receiving ability makes him one of the players who stands to benefit from the deal that Graham struck with the Saints on Tuesday.
