Justin Forsett has found a home with the Baltimore Ravens.
The journeyman, 29-year old running back, is having a breakout year for the Ravens. Forsett rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns to help the Ravens keep pace in the AFC North with a 34-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.
The Saints also kept pace in the putrid NFC South by losing their third straight home game and falling to 4-7 on the year.
Forsett, on his fourth team in four seasons, is getting the first extended starting opportunity of his career and making the most of it. He’s third in the league in rushing behind DeMarco Murray and Le’Veon Bell and on pace for the first 1,000-yard season in his career.
Forsett’s first touchdown of the night, a 13-yard carry in the second quarter, gave the Ravens a 14-7 lead.
The Saints rallied with a late touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Marques Colston giving New Orleans a 17-14 halftime lead.
However, the second half belonged to Baltimore.
After a 31-yard field goal from Justin Tucker tied the game, Will Hill intercepted Brees and returned the ball 44 yards for a touchdown to give the Ravens a 24-17 lead. Tucker added a 55-yard field goal to give Baltimore a 10-point cushion with 11 minutes left to play.
Shayne Graham’s 34-yard field goal made it a one-score game again, 27-20, with 6:33 left to play. But Forsett broke free for a 20-yard touchdown run to give Baltimore a 14-point lead with 2:53 remaining.
Brees and Jimmy Graham connected for a 2-yard touchdown, their second of the game, to give themselves a chance at an onside kick. But the Ravens recovered to seal the victory.
All four teams in the AFC North are deadlocked with seven wins. Cincinnati currently holds the edge due to their tie with Carolina earlier this season.
