According to veteran linebacker Kelvin Sheppard, the Giants will be signing veteran linebacker Kelvin Sheppard on Monday.
Sheppard visited with the Giants last week and didn’t immediately a sign a contract, although it appears conversations continued after Sheppard left the facility. Sheppard joins Keenan Robinson as veteran additions to the Giants linebacking corps.
The team also re-signed Jasper Brinkley and the three players figure to be the leading candidates to start in the middle of the Giants defense in 2016. It’s an area that the Giants need to upgrade now that Jon Beason has opted to retire after years of limited availability because of injuries.
Sheppard started 13 games for the Dolphins last year and was credited with 105 tackles over the course of the campaign. He’s also played with the Colts and Bills since entering the league in 2011.
