Longtime NFL outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley would like to keep playing football.
But since it’s June and he’s a free agent and his phone still isn’t ringing, he’s not worrying about it.
“I’m involved in a lot and have a lot of things going on,” Woodley said, via Hugh Bernreuter of MLive.com. “Other people can get stressed about whether I play again or not, but I’m not stressed.
“I don’t stress over something I don’t control.”
The 31-year-old Woodley was working at a youth field day at a school in Saginaw and talking about his future plans, saying he is close to earning his college degree in sports counseling, and enjoying working on his podcast.
Of course, that podcast might be what’s keeping him from getting a job.
Last month, he used that podcast to rip his last two defensive coordinators, calling then-Raiders coordinator Jason Tarver and Cardinals coordinator James Bettcher “just two dumb guys.”
That may help explain why Woodley’s phone keeps not ringing, coupled with the fact he’s ended the last two seasons on injured reserve, has 10.0 sacks in the last four seasons and hasn’t played a full year since 2010 with the Steelers.
But it’s totally out of his control, so he’s not worrying about it.
