Eagles running back LeSean McCoy wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday or Thursday because of the flu, but he was back on the field Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
McCoy said he doesn’t anticipate being limited at all as a result of the illness, saying that he thinks he’ll be fine once the game gets rolling. He also said that the fact that it is a divisional game makes it easier to play without having had a full week of practice.
“Yeah, I think so. It’s a division game. A lot of the guys are a lot of the same guys they’ve had and have been familiar with them for a little bit. I’m not a rookie. I know my assignments from the blitzes and pickups, the protections, the plays called,” McCoy said in comments distributed by the team. “I think the coaches trust me on that in [those] types of situations. And I’ve been here before where I haven’t practiced and actually played through different injuries. I really haven’t missed too many games in my career so far so I’ll be fine.”
Avid (or even casual) readers of this site need no reminder about the Eagles’ state of affairs, so it should go without saying that having McCoy is a good thing for the team. Whether or not they make optimal use of his talents will remain in doubt until kickoff. That’s not unusual in the Andy Reid era, even when there are no medical concerns.
