In a Thursday appearance with Dan Barreiro of KFAN radio in Minneapolis, Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier discussed the decision to cut receiver Randy Moss.
“You know, a decision was made by our organization and I just have to support that decision, for whatever reason,” Frazier said. “And, you know, everybody that’s included in making those major decisions, they’re trying to do what’s best for the Minnesota Vikings. That was the approach. . . . Our players are going forward, and trying to focus on Arizona, and that’s the way it has to be.”
Makes sense. Sounds good. But then Barreiro asked whether coach Brad Childress ran the decision by Frazier, who also serves as the team’s assistant head coach.
Frazier laughed, nervously, before responding.
“You know, um, you know,” he said, “a decision was made by our organization, and you know you really have to support that decision.”
In other words, Childress didn’t seek the input of Frazier. And, to his credit, Frazier wasn’t going to lie for Childress and affirmatively say that Childress checked with him before dumping Moss.
