The Lions brought back most of their offensive line from their 0-16 season, including backup offensive tackle Damion Cook.
Cook was a starter for a while last year, but he won’t take any snaps in 2009, coach Jim Schawtz announced Friday.
Cook will undergo season-ending surgery after tearing his triceps Thursday. He’s already been placed on injured reserve.
It shouldn’t be a major loss for Detroit; Cook was battling just to make the team.
The Lions replaced him on the roster with wideout Bobby Sippio, just one of the stars from Hard Knocks with the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago.
