Lions want Delmas back, but he plans to test market

Delmas

Like receiver Nate Burleson, safety Louis Delmas was cut by the Lions on Thursday. Unlike Burleson, Delmas may have a future in Detroit.

Per a league source, the Lions hope to bring Delmas back at a reduced rate. He first plans to test the open market.

Delmas was due to earn $6 million in 2014. He has been a member of the Lions for all five of his NFL seasons.

Because he was released, Delmas can negotiate immediately with other teams, and he can sign at any time.
