Giants cornerback Aaron Ross was listed on the team’s injury report on Friday with an illness, and he was still feeling bad enough this week that the team sent him for a series of tests on his stomach and kidneys. But doctors found nothing worse than a strained back, and coach Tom Coughlin said Ross is OK.

“He’s had multiple tests. He’s had all the internal organs tested. There’s a strong feeling that there’s some kind of a strain there, a back strain of some kind,” Coughlin said, per the New York Daily News. “We’re continuing to try to make him comfortable with all the various tests that have been done so he is confident that he can go play.”

Ross was experiencing pain that was consistent with a kidney stone, but doctors didn’t find that.

“All I can tell you is all these [internal] things have checked out,” Coughlin said. “[There was] nothing that they’re willing to say is the reason. There was no kidney stone unless he passed it. He was discomforted the other day. He feels better today. He’ll practice and I hope he can get through a practice without having some discomfort.”

Ross’s back pain didn’t keep him out of last Sunday’s game against the Jaguars and is not expected to keep him out of this Sunday’s game against the Redskins.
