The Ravens aren’t closing the door on the possibility of tight end Mark Andrews returning to the lineup this season.
Andrews left last Thursday’s win over the Bengals after a tackle by linebacker Logan Wilson and a report on Friday said that he suffered a cracked fibula along with damage to ankle ligaments. On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that further tests showed that the injury was less severe than the team first thought and that Andrews is still being evaluated to see if there’s a chance that he could return to action this season.
“Nothing’s completely definitive yet,” Harbaugh said. “My understanding is, in talking with our trainer and the doctors, it wasn’t as bad as initially feared after the game. . . . It’s a little cleaner than they thought based on the MRI. He’s gonna be involved with Dr. Anderson down there in Carolina next few days. We’ll know more There might be an outside chance he could get back at some point in time. We’ll just have to see how that goes and I don’t want to say that’s definitive by any stretch, but there is some optimism.”
Andrews will be out indefinitely at the very least, which leaves Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar as the available tight ends on the active roster.
