Mike Pettine doesn’t know if Jordan Cameron will play again this season

Browns tight end Jordan Cameron missed practice again on Friday and, as you’d expect for a player with a concussion who never got cleared to practice, he won’t be playing against the Texans this weekend.

It might be a while before he does play again. Browns coach Mike Pettine said that Cameron’s symptoms come and go and that he’s not sure if the tight end, who has suffered three concussions in the last two years, will be able to return to the field this season.

“You don’t know. It’s a touchy subject,” Pettine said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Cameron has also dealt with a shoulder injury this season and the dual injuries have conspired to send him toward free agency without much to show for his contract year. That’s unfortunate, but the outcome could potentially be far worse if he were to return before he’s totally symptom-free and suffer another concussion that jeopardizes more than just his short-term earning potential.
