Miko Grimes goes silent, sort of, on Twitter

114986199

Someone apparently has persuaded the wife of Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes to apply the brakes to an out-of-control Twitter tirade.

In a move that feels like a compromise between Miko Grimes and her husband and/or his employer, Miko’s Twitter account is now protected. This means that her messages can be seen only by people who already follow her, and that any new followers must be approved by her. No longer can anyone type up her Twitter handle and see what she’s been saying.

Before she protected her tweets, Miko Grimes twice fired back at Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, taking issue with his decision to call her out publicly in lieu of contacting Brent Grimes to address privately his Glazer’s concerns about Miko’s anti-Semitic remark regarding Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and executive V.P. of football operations Mike Tannenbaum.

Apart from the fact that she likely would have responded to such an effort by saying something like “tell him if he has a problem with me to take it up with me directly” (plus insults and profanity), there’s a clear irony in her objection to being called out publicly on Twitter, given that she routinely calls out anyone end everyone publicly on Twitter. Indeed, this entire fiasco happened because she decided to continue to call out Dolphins management publicly on Twitter.

In a separate tweet, Miko taunted Glazer for not responding, accusing him at one point of using steroids.

Glazer, to his credit (but to our chagrin), has resisted getting into a protracted back and forth with Miko Grimes, because she apparently doesn’t know when to quit.

As to Twitter, she hasn’t yet quit (again). However, she has at least made it harder to others to bait her into more outbursts by making it harder for the world to see and react to her latest over-the-top 140-characters-or-less message.
