A quarterback with 17 NFL regular season starts to his credit has signed with a Canadian Football League club.
The Montreal Alouettes have reached a two-year deal with ex-Cardinals quarterback John Skelton, the CFL team said Friday.
The 26-year-old Skelton appeared in 20 games for Arizona from 2010 through 2012, starting all but three of those games. After being waived by the Cardinals in 2013, he had stints with the Bengals, 49ers and Titans. He was not in the NFL in 2014.
A Fordham product, Skelton was a fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft (No. 155). Arizona traded up with Pittsburgh to select him, sending cornerback Bryant McFadden and a 2010 sixth-round pick (No. 195) to complete the deal. With pick No. 195, the Steelers took wide receiver Antonio Brown.
