Earlier Saturday, PFT’s Mike Florio, citing a league source, reported the 49ers had indicated they weren’t going to bring back Randy Moss in 2013.
On Saturday night, the veteran wide receiver took to Twitter and wished the Niners well.
“Wished we could’ve finished the job!!” wrote Moss, who has a verified Twitter account. “thanks for the opportunity an good luck in the future 9ers.”
Moss, 36, is slated to be an unrestricted free agent. He caught 28 passes for 434 yards and two touchdowns in 2012 for San Francisco after a year out of the league.
Moss’ legacy as one of the premier deep threats of all-time seems secure no matter where his football future goes from here. Should he test the free-agent market, he will be part of a fairly solid group of wide receivers led by Mike Wallace, Greg Jennings, Wes Welker and Dwayne Bowe.
