The NFLPA issued a disciplinary complaint on Friday evening against agent Ian Greengross “for violating numerous provisions of the NFLPA’s Agent Regulations.”
Greengross and his recruiter Kenny Rogers have come under fire this week in relation to a NCAA investigation of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. Rogers is alleged to have sought as much as $200,000 for Newton to sign a letter of intent. Newton says Rogers acted on his own.
In the NFLPA’s statement, Rogers is alleged to have “misrepresented to prospective player-clients that he was an NFLPA employee, a Club official and an official from a testing service in an effort to recruit them. He also is alleged to have recruited players as clients while those players were signed to agent contracts with other agents in violation of the Regulations.”
The NFLPA is considering imposing immediate discipline pending any hearing. Greengross appeared to try to distance himself from Rogers back in August when an investigation was already under way, but Greengross is responsible for his recruiter’s activity.
Greengross is listed as the agent of record for 12 NFL clients, including Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy, Texans defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, and Raiders running back Darren McFadden.
