The NFL Players Association announced Tuesday they have suspended agent Vinnie Porter following an arrest on wire fraud charges.
The NFLPA released a statement saying the suspension went into effect on Feb. 6 and will extend through the resolution of any and all criminal charges.
According to a criminal complaint and affidavit supporting Porter’s arrest, between May 2014 and October 2014, Porter knowingly participated in a conspiracy to defraud investors. Specifically, the conspiracy was designed to defraud athlete client investors out of millions of dollars by fraudulently concealing the price of an investment, the amount of equity being purchased, and the identities of other investors.
Porter represents a somewhat small number of NFL players. His clients include Jonas Gray and Brian Tyms of the New England Patriots, New York Giants linebacker Devon Kennard and Denver Broncos offensive lineman Michael Schofield.
