The Panthers are set to host one of the Packers’ key targets of two seasons ago.
Wide receiver Jarrett Boykin, whom Green Bay didn’t tender as a restricted free agent, will meet with the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Tuesday night.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Boykin’s visit is Wednesday.
Because the Packers did not offer the 25-year-old Boykin a contract, he is free to sign with any other club without compensation due to Green Bay.
After injuries to Randall Cobb and James Jones opened the door for more playing time, Boykin (6-2, 218) hauled in 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns for the Packers in 2013. However, Boykin had a limited role last season, catching just three passes in 13 games.
Boykin attended high school in Charlotte before playing collegiately at Virginia Tech. He had a brief stint with the Jaguars in 2012 before signing with the Packers, with whom he played the last three seasons.
