Panthers G.M. Marty Hurney announced Friday that the club has signed safety Haruki Nakamura to a three-year contract.
Nakamura is a productive special teams player who’s been pursuing a chance at more playing time on defense. In Carolina, he could give free safety Sherrod Martin a run for his starting job in training camp.
Nakamura turns 26 in April. He’s been in the league for four seasons, but has never made a start.
The Panthers also announced that they have waived defensive tackle DeMario Pressley.
