PASQUALONI TO CHIEFS?

Though the identity of the list of Scott Pioli’s potential head-coaching candidates isn’t known, NFLN’s Adam Schefter tosses an intriguing name into the mix. Paul Pasqualoni. Pasqualoni, 58, was the head coach at Syracuse from 1991 through 2004. After being fired, he jumped to the NFL for the first time in his career, joining Bill Parcells with the Cowboys. When Parcells resurfaced as V.P. of football operations in 2008 of the Dolphins, Pasqualoni was hired as the team’s defensive coordinator. And Pasqualoni did an admirable job with a defense that lost Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Parcells is Pioli’s father-in-law, and Pioli worked as a graduate assistant at Syracuse while Pasqualoni was a member of Dick McPherson’s staff. Per Schefter, Pasqualoni received some consideration for the six vacancies that arose after the season ended. However, Pasqualoni has not been interviewed for any head-coaching vacancies. So the connection is there between Pioli and Pasqualoni, and Pasqualoni has established himself as a solid NFL assistant in only four NFL seasons. Whether Pasqualoni becomes a candidate for the job in Kansas City remains to be seen. Especially since the Chiefs still have a head coach.
