The New England Patriots were able to sit at home, watch football and win a division title on Monday night.

By virtue of the Miami Dolphins 31-24 loss to the New York Giants, the Patriots officially clinched the AFC East title for the seventh straight season and 13th time in the last 15 years.

The Patriots’ spot in the playoffs had already been assured with their win Sunday night over the Houston Texans, but now it’s set in stone that there will be at least one playoff game in New England again in January.

Only the Miami Dolphins in 2008 and New York Jets in 2002 have won the East during the Patriots massive run of success since the turn of the century.
