When guards Dan Connolly and Logan Mankins were forced to miss games this season due to injury, the New England Patriots turned to Donald Thomas to step in and fill the void.

Thomas started seven games for the Patriots last season and played well with Connolly and Mankins sidelined. Now Thomas is expected to test the free agent market.

According to Shalise M. Young of the Boston Globe, Thomas is “fully expected” to test the market when free agency begins next Tuesday.

With his play for the Patriots last season, Thomas could generate significant interest on the market for teams looking for starting help on the offensive line. With Connolly and Mankins both under contract for next season, Thomas likely won’t have the same opportunity to play in New England that he could find in free agency.
