Philadelphia Eagles safety Quintin Demps committed personal foul penalties on Sunday that various sports writers described as “stupid” and “moronic.”
Demps can now describe the penalties as “expensive.”
The NFL has fined Demps $12,500 for his two personal fouls, a roughing the passer penalty for a high hit on Falcons quarterback Chris Redman and a late hite on Falcons receiver Roddy White.
The Philadelphia Iquirer notes that Demps’ 2009 salary is $385,000, and quotes him as saying he thinks the $12,500 fine is steep.
“It’s Christmas time,” Demps said, “and I don’t want to be giving away free money.”
