Raiders sign Morlon Greenwood, not Derrick Brooks

After recently working out a pair of veteran linebackers -- Morlon Greenwood and Derrick Brooks -- the Raiders have signed one of them.

Greenwood.

The news comes from Raiderbeat.com, and the move has been confirmed by the team’s official web site.

To make room for Greenwood, the Raiders cut defensive end Derrick Gray.

Greenwood, an eight-year veteran, played four years with the Dolphins and four with the Texans. After starting ten games last season, Greenwood was cut by Houston on February.

And so Brooks continues to look for a team with which to continue his stellar 14-year career. He has started every game since 1996; it’s hard to believe that he might not be in someone’s lineup come Week One of the 2009 campaign.

Brooks also has recently worked out with the Saints, who still might sign him.
