Thomas was moved off the roster so the team could have another running back ready Sunday against the Packers. The team activated Keiland Williams from their practice squad.
Williams has six carries for 29 yards thus far this season. He could wind up having a big role on this team. Current starter Ryan Torain has a long history of injuries, and there are questions whether Clinton Portis will ever play for the Redskins again.
